Why isn't the monument in the Altgens photo vertical? 



You can see that it's pitched back and leftward. The thing is leaning like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I have been there, and I assure you it is vertical. Compare it again to one of our reenactment pics:



You don't notice it so much in the cropped versions, but above is the full frame. 

So, how did it come about? Was it just a matter of Altgens tipping his camera? We can also see it on the the Dal-Tex building:



So, what is the reason for this? And it raises an important question: Is there anything honest about the Altgens photo? Or did they have some nefarious reason for doing this on purpose? Because, it seems like a seasoned photographer like James Altgens would have the good sense to hold his camera level with the horizon. 

One thing is for sure: the entire contents of the image are under a cloud of suspicion. And as far as duplicating it goes and getting everything to line up? Forget about it. That ain't never going to happen. The Altgens photo is a one-of-a-kind thing.
