Part 3: Jack Ruby was NOT a Mafioso

So, Ruby moved to Dallas in 1947 to help his sister Eva in her nightclub business, and he brought no Mafia ties with him. The following statement is by Bill Roemer, the FBI investigator who investigated the Chicago Mob more than anyone else:

“Ruby was absolutely nothing in terms of the Chicago Mob. We had thousands and thousands of hours of tape recordings of the top Mobsters in Chicago, including Sam Giancana, and Ruby just didn’t exist as far as they were concerned. We talked to every hoodlum in Chicago after the assassination, and some of the top guys in the Mob, my informants. I had close relationships with them—they didn’t even know who Ruby was. He was not a front for them in Dallas.”

Even if he did run errands for Al Capone as a teenager (and that remains unconfirmed) it went nowhere; it developed into nothing; and by 1947, it had no lingering remnants. So, Ruby arrived in Dallas with no ties to the Mafia whatsoever.

So, to my enemies: shove that in your pipe and smoke it.

Now, it is true that at the time, the Mafia was very big in the nightclub business, but, it’s not as though every nightclub was owned by the Mafia. Eva Grant’s nightclub, the Singapore Supper Club, was owned by her. The money to set it up came from her brothers, Earl and Hyman. It was definitely NOT a Mafia nightclub.

Eva moved to California in 1950 to do something else, and Ruby changed the name to the Silver Spur Club. Eva would return to Dallas in 1959 and help Jack by managing the Vegas Club (which was less sleazy) as he ran the Carousel.

And there were other clubs in-between. Ruby loved the nightclub business, but he wasn’t any good at making them successful, profitable businesses.

So, by the early 1960s, he had the two: the Vegas and the Carousel. The money to start the Carousel came from himself and several investors. I remember the name of one of them: Ralph Paul, which is easy for me to remember since my name is Ralph, and my best friend’s name was Paul, who tragically died. But, Ralph Paul was NOT a Mafioso, and neither were the other investors. The Carousel was NOT a Mob club.

Let’s move on to individuals who were supposedly Mob associates of Ruby in Dallas. One was Joseph Campisi, who was Sicilian, who owned The Egyptian restaurant. Supposedly, he was a mobster. Ruby often ate at his restaurant because they had late hours, and Ruby was a night person who often ate late. So, Ruby ate there a lot, and he knew Campisi. After the Oswald shooting, Campisi was interviewed by the FBI. I don’t believe he was interviewed by the Warren Commission. Then, in the late 70s, he was interviewed again by the HSCA. Campisi never claimed to be a Mafioso. He said that he and his wife owned and operated the restaurant themselves. And after they died, their kids continued the business. And it’s all still going today. You can still eat at Campisi’s.

I am not going to spend time burrowing into the business affairs of Joseph Campisi, but Jack Ruby was just a patron of his. If you want to read Campisi’s HSCA testimony, here it is.

Today, the Campisis have 9 restaurants in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.

Who else? There was Paul Roland Jones, who definitely had a criminal past. He was even convicted of a murder and served years in prison, but he got pardoned. After that, his business activities vacillated between the legal and the illegal, but he and Ruby never committed any crimes together.

Ruby called some union boss with Mob connections over his “variety dancers” who were attempting to unionize. Doesn’t make Ruby a mobster.

Ruby was said to have called a lieutenant of Carlos Marcello in Louisiana, but that wasn’t true. He called his friend Harold Tannenbaum, who was a nightclub owner in New Orleans who arranged for the famous stripper Jada to go to Dallas to do a stint at the Carousel.

Ruby called Robert Barney Baker, who was an aide to Jimmy Hoffa. It was, again, about Ruby’s union problems and did not make him a Mafioso.

Ruby went to Cuba for a week in 1959 at the invitation of his friend Lewis McWillie, who was supposed to have Mob connections. It was strictly a vacation for Ruby, and McWhillie testified to the Warren Commission, which you can read here:

https://www.jfk-assassination.net/russ/jfkinfo2/jfk5/mcwill.htm

Ruby was said to be a hit man for the Mob.  Then who did Ruby kill? A hit man who doesn’t kill anyone isn’t a hit man. So, who did Ruby kill? Nobody.

And the invented lies about Ruby aren’t limited to the Mafia. It’s also claimed that he worked for Richard Nixon as a Communist infiltrator. There is this letter about it, but it’s fraudulent. It’s from 1947, and it includes a zip code, except zip codes weren’t introduced until 1960.

So, they lied about Ruby working for Richard Nixon; they made the whole thing up. And they lied about him working for the Mafia. They made the whole  thing up.

They said that Ruby owed a lot of money to the Mafia. He did not. He owed a lot of money to the IRS.

Jack Ruby was a devout Jew. He worshipped at the temple. He had spiritual sessions with his rabbi. He listened to rabbinical sermons on television. He was not a murderer. His moral compass against murder was strong. Recall that it’s one of the commandments, Thou shalt not kill.

And the narrative that was put together about Ruby is amazing, that he lived in Youngstown and Syracuse and lived in Florida where he ran guns to Cuba, etc.- he would have had to have 9 lives to do all that. Ruby was in the nightclub business in Dallas, and he ran it hands-on. It was a 7 days a week business that hardly ever closed.  He only had the one life.

Ruby was never a Mafioso, and the claim that Mafia ordered him to shoot Oswald is preposterous. There wasn’t even a time and place that he could have met with the Mafia to be so ordered.

And Ruby’s whole nature was to be a blabbermouth. He had logorrhea, which is the medical term for non-stop talking, with excessive exposition and expounding. This was an exchange between Ruby and Earl Warren. After a long, meandering, stream of consciousness speech that was utterly bizarre for a government hearing, Ruby says:

Mr. Ruby: In the meantime, there is this fellow in town who has been very good to me named Gordon McLendon. Do you know him, Mr. Warren?

Chief Justice Warren: I think I do not.

And you wouldn’t believe all that Ruby said before that that led up to it. It’s amazing that they let him go on for so long.

My point is that Ruby had a team of lawyers, who were probing him. Do you really think that he could have hid it from them that the Mafia put him up to shooting Oswald? Do you think that he could have, stalwartly, lied to them about it, again and again, and gotten away with it, when his whole nature was to spill his guts?

So, we’re supposed to believe that he not only beat the polygraph machine but his own lawyers?

Ruby could NOT have been ordered by the Mafia to kill Oswald. If he had been, he would have known that he wasn’t returning to his life. He would have made arrangements for his dogs. He certainly wouldn’t have brought one along with him, his most beloved one, Sheba.

That Ruby brought Sheba along proves he had no intention to shoot Oswald.

That Ruby brought Sheba along proves he had no intention to shoot Oswald.

That Ruby brought Sheba along proves he had no intention to shoot Oswald.

That Ruby brought Sheba along proves he had no intention to shoot Oswald.

That Ruby brought Sheba along proves he had no intention to shoot Oswald.

Jack Ruby was NOT a Mafioso. It was all made up. It’s all backed by nothing but hearsay. It was just people spouting it. There is no police or criminal record of Ruby being involved in Mob activity. And why would Ruby go from being an operative for Richard Nixon to being a Mob operative? That is as disjointed as him going from wiring $25 to one of his dancers to destroying his entire life by killing Oswald. It was like him having an errand list: “wire $25 to Little Lynn, drop Sheba off at the Carousel Club, destroy my whole life.”

Jack Ruby did NOT shoot Lee Harvey Oswald. He was tricked into believing that he did. And we were all tricked into believing it. It was probably the biggest and most Machiavellian psy-op of all time.

All you have to do is study the Garage Shooter closely and critically compare him to Ruby, including images of Ruby on that day, such his mug shots, and you’ll realize that that short, pudgy Shooter with no neck, wearing a thick rug, wasn’t him. Just as Lee Harvey Oswald was innocent, so was Jack Ruby. JFK and Oswald were killed by the same people.
