We know that the Beers photo on the left is fraudulent because we have the films, and we can see the Shooter the split-second before the shot went off.
On the right is a frame from the KRLD footage, and it's just a tiny fraction of a second before the shot, and that's going by the sound. And you can see that the Shooter's legs were together: side by side. I put an L and an R to show each one, in case you have any trouble seeing them.. They are right next to each other. They are not spread far apart. His right foot is not way in front of his left foot, as we see in Beers. There is no lunge going on.
And
notice in the KRLD film on the right that the Shooter wasn't far away
from Oswald. He has already passed LC Graves, and Graves is using his
left fist to push the Shooter. He's not trying to stop him. He's not
grabbing him or reaching for the gun. He's just trying to position him
because Graves is in motion. He doesn't want to stop. But, he also
doesn't want to collide with the Shooter. So, he uses his fist to shove
him where he thinks he should be. And Graves is looking down because he
doesn't want to look at the Shooter. Officially, he hasn't seen him yet.
Officially, he is not aware of him yet. He doesn't want to react to him
until AFTER the shot because he wants the shot to go off. He doesn't
want to prevent it. He doesn't want to interfere. The whole idea is to
show Oswald being shot.
So,
Graves can't go into action to pretend that he's struggling with the
Shooter until AFTER he hears the shot. And, he hasn't heard it yet. So,
he's just managing the mechanics of the crowded situation until after
the shot. And that's when he starts grappling with the Shooter.
