Look at this series of images from the killing of Oswald, thanks to Staffan Westerberg. His thesis, and mine, is that it looks like a staged event, where the officers were deliberately looking away.
In this first frame, notice that Will Fritz has stopped. He stops early- as if he knows something is about to happen behind him. Ruby is moving in, but notice that Leavele is looking away. Why is he looking in that direction? That's towards the inside where fellow officers are. He presumably doesn't suspect them, so shouldn't he be looking outside in the direction of the street? That's where an attack would come from. And shouldn't his eyes be scanning? They're not. He's just rigidly looking in the direction that he is in a fixed, unwavering gaze.
In this frame, Ruby has moved farther in front. You see his left arm raised, but you know his right arm is also raised, wielding the gun. Will Fritz has not turned around. He's stopped but not turned. And you have just enough visibility to see that Jim Leavele has not altered his gaze. He's still looking away, towards the inside.
This is a further progression, and neither cop is registering a reaction or response to Ruby. Recall what I said about a moving object within your peripheral field of vision, how you tend to sync on it. Still objects you ignore, but moving objects you sync on.
It's fair to say that there is no apparent reaction from Oswald at this point either, and that raises a question: Was Oswald told that there was going to be a fake assassination attempt on him that he should go along with?
Still no reaction from Leavele, and I'm seeing Oswald as looking down, not at Ruby. Again: were they all in on it, including Oswald?
Finally, we get the first glimmer of Leavele becoming aware of what is going on. But, at this point in time, surely the gunshot has already occurred.
It's over at this point. Oswald is down. Ruby is grabbed. But, Will Fritz hasn't even turned around yet. He's got his arms raised- as if he's startled. But, he hasn't turned around. Don't you think that in the midst of all that commotion that he would have snapped around immediately?
Finally, Fritz is starting to turn around, but it's awfully late, as the men are scuffling with Ruby.
Let's recap: Oswald is being led out by two detectives, one on each side. He is handcuffed to Leavele on his right, but not the other man, who has his arm. Both detectives have a fixed gaze as they're leading him, and it's too the inside, not the outside. They should have been scanning in both directions, but if they were going to look just one way, it should have been to the outside, which was to their left, because that was the side that an attack from the public could come from. The men against the wall were all policemen, so no worries about them. Leavele and the other guy had to know that if an attack came, it had to come from Ruby's direction. So, why weren't they looking in that direction? If their gaze was going to be fixed in any direction, it should have been in that direction. Doesn't it seem like they were deliberately looking AWAY from Ruby? Trying hard not to see him?
Here is the link, so that you can watch it yourself, keeping in mind the things I said. This is the best footage of the killing of Oswald that I have ever seen, so I thank Staffan for providing it.

I don't claim certainty about this, but I suspect that the whole thing may have been staged, where it may even have included Oswald.
