Now Backes wants to blame Fritz for Oswald's murder.  Fritz broke the circle or the square or some horse shit. But, there is plenty of blame to go around. Not Fritz, not Leavelle, and not the other guy were looking around. They walked out with their eyes fixed and did no scanning, no surveying, and no sizing up. Imagine if soldiers went into battle that way. Well, they were warned ahead of time that someone might try to kill Oswald. Leavelle even joked about it to Oswald, in which he said that if someone tries to shoot him, he hopes that he's as good a shot as Oswald (implying that Oswald did some great shooting when he picked off Kennedy).

So, Leavelle was aware of the danger to Oswald. He acknowledged it. Heck, if reporters were aware of it, how could he, the police, not be aware of it?

So, if he was aware of the danger, and Fritz was aware of the danger, why weren't they scanning the area? Why were they looking straight ahead like cigar store Indians? Why weren't they actively looking for trouble?

Why did they take any chances at all? Why didn't they clear the area of everyone except for known police personnel? Why didn't they move Oswald without any announcement? Why did it have to be broadcast on radio and television that Oswald was going to be moved at that time, stating over and over that someone might try to kill him? Why didn't they just do it without any announcement, and then announce afterwards that it had been done?

Why wasn't someone assigned to walk right in front of Oswald acting as a human shield? Why wasn't Oswald given a bullet-proof vest?

There is no excuse for any of this, and there is plenty of blame to go around.  Stop defending it, Backes. We've got the video! We can see what they did and didn't do. And not one person did anything preventative. Not one person began to react until after Oswald was shot.
