Doorman's shirt pattern is definitely NOT plaid. It has no vertical lines. Even the horizontal markings are irregular. And it has not a single box, while Lovelady's shirt is swarming with boxes.
Since this endeavor began in the fall of 2011, there have been a few revisions. But, surprisingly few. Amazingly few.
Was there any tampering with the pattern of Doorman's shirt? Though it has no plaid and nothing whatsoever in common with Lovelady's shirt, it obviously has some contrast. Is any of that contrast artificial?
At this point in time, I don't claim to know for sure. I think it's a possibility, but I also think that much, if not all, of the variation we see is due to light reflection and shininess from worn areas of the shirt. You get a sense of it on Oswald as well.
On the left, Oswald is NOT standing in the bright sunlight as he was in the doorway, but you're still getting a sense of whitish areas from the thin, worn material. It was an old ragged shirt.
So, what we're seeing on Doorman may be largely or wholly that, and I'm just not sure. But one thing is for absolute sure: there is a much greater likeness in pattern between Oswald and Doorman than Lovelady and Doorman.
There is NO CHANCE that Doorman's shirt pattern is Lovelady's. And that means that it is definitely Oswald's.
And anytime you want to accept that bet in which we get 100 impartial observers to say which two match in the above collage, and which one is the odd man out, I'm ready. Come on. It will be fast money for one of us.
