bpete is missing the forest for the trees.

Lovelady testified that Gloria Calvary came up about 3 minutes after the
shots. Then he said they went to the island for a minute and then the
tracks. He said that he was between 15 to 25 steps away from the
building...but not walking down the street as shown in your crop.

Shelley describes where the 15 to 25 steps took them...to the island...

Mr. BALL - Did you see Truly, Mr. Truly and an officer go into the
building?
Mr. SHELLEY - Yeah, we saw them right at the front of the building while
we were on the island.
Mr. BALL - While you were out there before you walked to the railroad
yards?
Mr. SHELLEY - Yes.
Mr. BALL - Do you have any idea how long it was from the time you heard
those three sounds or three noises until you saw Truly and Baker going into
the building?
Mr. SHELLEY - It would have to be 3 or 4 minutes I would say because this
girl that ran back up there was down near where the car was when the
President was hit.

So Ralph, your photo crop doesn't show Shelley and Lovelady walking down
the street.

How could it have been 3 minutes or 4 minutes from the last shot before Shelley and Lovelady saw Truly and Baker go into the building when Baker encountered Oswald in the 2nd floor lunch room 70 seconds after the last shot?

And notice that Shelley qualified it by saying that Gloria Calvary needed time to get from down where she was "near where the car was when the President was hit" back up to where they were.  Of course, even that wouldn't have taken 3 or 4 minutes, but it would have taken some time.

So, unfortunately, you can't make sense of what Shelley and Lovelady said. And the determination of whether it was Shelley and Lovelady walking down the street or not can only come from doing photographic analysis and not from word-parsing.

For instance, as regards Oswald being in the doorway, the photographic analysis is so certain that it wouldn't matter one iota if there were multiple statements from Oswald denying that he was in the doorway. Even if there were a recorded statement by Oswald in which he said the following;

"At the time of President Kennedy's murder, I was sipping a Coke in the lunch room. I did not go outside like the others did. I had no interest in doing that. I never exited the building. I never went out into the street or even into the doorway. I never went anywhere near the front door. I NEVER PUSHED IT OPEN AND WENT OUT IT. I remained inside the building the whole time, and I never approached that doorway."

That would only mean that Oswald lied, and that's because the pictures do not lie. The pictures tell us with certainty that Oswald was in the doorway. It can't not be him.
