The story went that Jack Martin, a postal worker, shot his motorcade footage; then he crossed the street and shot the 6 second Lovelady clip. But then, the story got changed to that after the motorcade he went to his office to call his wife to tell her what happened, and then he returned to Dealey Plaza and shot the Lovelady clip. I didn't know postal workers had their own offices.
But, the Martin film is some of the very worst footage there is from the JFK assassination, while the Lovelady clip is among the very best.
The only way that Martin could have taken both frames is if he returned to Dealey Plaza with a different and far superior movie camera, and no one has suggested that.
What evidence is there that Martin shot the Lovelady clip besides them saying it? None.
We have Lovelady talking at length about his trek to the tracks, but Backes thinks the Warren Commission made the whole thing up. Not just that they lied, but they concocted testimony for him which he never gave. Backes also thinks Dallas Police concocted a whole person, Mary Bledsoe, with a whole personal history, including two sons and a father who was a doctor in Corsicana, Texas. He thinks they even provided this fictitious person with a lawyer, Miss Melody June Douthit. All of that was made up, according to Backes, but he can't imagine that anyone could have lied about Jack Martin and his filming Lovelady.
If the footage of Lovelady at the TSBD entrance existed in 1963, why was it not mentioned until 1966? The very first time it was mentioned was when Harold Weisberg was debating a couple of guys on the radio about what shirt Lovelady was wearing and the FBI statements about it, and the other guys brought it up. But, Martin quickly sold his film to Life magazine, then they lent it to the FBI. So, if Lovelady was in it, why didn't we hear about it before 1966?
Let's take a look at the dual gifs of the Lovelady clip.
It seems like Gorilla Man on the left has got more coverage on top than the other guy.
Let's go in a little closer.
The swath of hair going over seems much thinner on the guy on the right. He really looks practically bald, doesn't he? And are you aware that Lovelady was only 26 years old? Only 26! Does the guy on the right look like a 26 year old man to you? And how could be Doorman? Doorman wasn't as bald as that, was he?
I want you dwell on the fact that on the left, we get the sense of a rather big, burly man, but on the right, we get the sense of a rather small little man. Let's go in closer:
That'll do it for tonight, but as I said, I am going to crush this thing. I have new information. I am swinging for the bleechers, and don't worry, my bat is going to connect.
