Actually, it wasn't my decision; it was voted on.
It's no secret that I have had my differences with Judyth, but they are nothing compared to Backes' differences with bpete. This is what Joseph Backes said to guys who advocate that Oswald was locking and loading on the 6th floor and pumping rounds into Kennedy:
How could someone who claims to believe that Oswald was innocent fawn over guys like bpete, Gary Mack, and others who claim Oswald was guilty?
My differences with Judyth haven't risen to that level. I haven't liked it that she disparages John Armstrong, whom I strongly support. That is probably the biggest thing that we have clashed over.
But, the OIC is a diverse organization; it is not the Ralph Cinque fan club. Judyth Baker has a lot of fans within the JFK community, and she has fans within the OIC. I'm really not the dictator. But, most importantly, Judyth has come to recognize that it was Oswald in the doorway. She has been subjected to a lot of pressure from others not to recognize it, including Robert Groden. But now, she is saying no to Groden, and she is admitting that we are right, that it is Oswald in the doorway, that he was not getting change for a Coke from Geneva Hines at the time and insisting "No pennies" as Groden contends, but that he was just standing there outside, in the doorway, clasping his hands, as we contend.
When a person recognizes Oswald in the doorway, he or she delivers the most powerful blow against JFK officialdom that is humanly possible. Am I saying that that is all I ask of someone who comes in? Yes, that is all I ask.
My differences with Judyth about other things- such as the Two Oswalds thesis of John Armstrong, which I wholeheartedly endorse and which she does not- remain. And, I am certainly not going to muzzle myself in any way or be less strident than I have been before . However, I appreciate Judyth's endorsement of Oswald in the doorway, and I respect her for doing it. Oswald in the doorway- the Altgens doorway- matters to me more than anything else.
We have just one litmus test in the OIC, and it is the endorsement of this Mission Statement:
Mission Statement
We, the members of the Oswald Innocence Campaign, maintain that at the time of President Kennedy's assassination, Lee Harvey Oswald was standing in the doorway of the Texas School Book Depository, where he was photographed by James "Ike" Altgens, which is clearly evident upon close examination of the photograph. This discovery categorically exonerates Oswald from having shot the President. We call upon the media to renounce the official story that impugns him--including the "Magic Bullet" theory, which is a conspiratorial fabrication--and we demand that the American government cease obstructing justice by promoting a gross falsehood, based on lies, which has allowed the true killers to remain free, unindicted, and unpunished.
As long as a new member endorses the above statement, he or she is in. And, there is no hypocrisy involved. My views are my views, but the OIC is organized around one singular idea: that Lee Harvey Oswald was standing in the doorway during the shooting of JFK, and therefore, he could not possibly have done it. And Judyth Baker has my thanks and appreciation for recognizing the truth of it. And, there is nothing hypocritical about that.
