Sweet Lorraine was written in 1928 by Cliff Burwell, the piano player and arranger for Rudy Vallee, and he wrote it for Rudy. But, it quickly became a jazz standard, and the one who really perfected it was Nat King Cole. The lyricist for it was Mitchell Parish, who also wrote the lyrics to Hoagy Carmichael's Star Dust, considered to be among the most inspired lyrics ever written. I've always loved this song. It is among the best songs ever written about a woman by name. And, I'm glad I got to do it with Paul Popa, who contributed a lot with his guitar.
