This isn't exactly a Thanksgiving song, and far from it, but it is a gorgeous gem by Marvin Fisher. Masterfully, Marvin found jazz chords that capture the feeling of the song, such that it practically sings itself. It's called When Sunny Gets Blue, and it was written in 1955 for Johnny Mathis, with lyrics by Jack Segal. Has Johnny Mathis been around that long? It's hard to believe since he seems so young. But, it reminds of what a great decade the 1950s were for music. On this Thanksgiving Day, I thank everyone who listens to my songs. Thanks a million.
