Bud:

When I see a dog I have a tendency to refer to it as a dog, no point in calling it a cat.

Ralph Cinque:

Exactly. In that case, there is no danger of anyone calling you a researcher.

Bud:

Possibly, but that reality (of Bud being a hobbyst, as he likes to call me) doesn`t impact what I do. You realizing that you are merely engaging in a silly hobby destroys your whole house of cards. Imagine if you had to come to grips with the reality that you`ve spent so much time and effort playing silly games about this event? I, on the other hand am fine with the idea that I spent so much time trying to bring this fact to the attention of hobbyists, and have caused them to enjoy their silly hobby a little less.

 Ralph Cinque:

I doubt reality impacts ANYTHING you do- or think. But, if you don't think that I and my associates are moving the ball down the field towards the goalposts, you haven't been paying attention to the game.

Bud:

Right, Marina didn`t speak on his (Russian speaking) proficiency in the quotes you offered in your first post, so I`m still waiting for this "proof" you claimed in the header.

Ralph Cinque:

Well, even in the good old USA, Lee spoke to Marina in Russian.

Mr. RANKIN. Did he speak to you in Russian when he called you on the telephone (in Dallas)?
Mrs. OSWALD. Yes. Sometimes he would try to speak in English when someone was listening, and he didn't want them to know he spoke Russian--then he would try to speak in English.

His preference and his usual practice was to speak to his wife in Russian even in the US.
Oswald spoke Russian well, Bud. We can safely consider him a prodigy at it.

Bud:

Not what she said, she offered Estonia and Lithuania as possibilities, examples of places where he might be from, places Russian isn`t spoken particularly well. Is English your first language?

Ralph Cinque:

Yes, and in case you haven't notice, I use the English language better than you do.  I'll try to simplify this for you,  Bud.  Estonia and Lithuania are close to Russia. Estonia and Lithuania were within the Soviet orbit at the time. Estonia and Lithuania underwent extensive Russification as a state policy of the Soviet Union. To this day, Russian is widely spoken in former Soviet republics, including Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and yes, Lithuania. It is very impressive that Marina never suspected that Lee, an American, was an American.

Bud:

That might say more about Marina than Oswald. But I`m sure being in the country for some time before meeting Marina and being privately tutored must have helped. Before he went to Russia it is documented that his Russian was poor.

Ralph Cinque;

Poor? Did you say poor? Relative to what? Not relative to a guy who had never taken a single Russian lesson in his life up to that point. Not relative to a guy for whom there is no evidence of his having access to ANY Russian learning materials. Not relative to a guy who had none of the modern language learning tools that people rely on today, such as CDs, DVDs, internet sites, etc. Not for a guy who had no one to speak in Russian to while he was supposedly learning it. After having, well, NOTHING AT ALL that we know of, he took a Russian proficiency exam and got more answers right than wrong. And you call that poor? This is what we're talking about: click on it.
