This, again, is the first position in which we see Lovelady inside the Squad room. Oswald and the big cop have already passed him. But for some reason, Lovelady prefers to stare at the wall in front of him rather than keep his eyes on Oswald.

What could he possibly be looking at? What reason was there not to keep his eyes on Oswald? What could have been more important?

In short order, he does turn towards Oswald, and he doesn't just turn his head, but rather, his whole body, just to stay pegged on Oswald. It almost looks like he's straining, pulling his neck to do it. But, why the delayed reaction? Why does the above frame exist?

And Backes says he would have remained sitting, even he knew that a procession of cops had to get by him WHERE HIS FEET WERE JUTTING OUT INTO THEIR LANE which was certainly the case here. Backes says that if Lovelady "stood" it would have been "sudden" and that's no good when you're around cops with a suspect. But, it's not a matter of standing; it's a matter of getting out of the way, moving aside, getting over to where he was standing against the wall. That's what I'm talking about; not just standing.

And suddenness has nothing to do with it because Lovelady had to hear that stampede of men coming. He wasn't deaf. And he would have caught his first glimpse of them as they were first entering the room, which means he still had time to scurry out of the way before they got to him. And that's what he would have done rather than force them to go around him.

Then Backes says that the last two cops did move around him. Wrong, Backes. They did not. They moved left so that they could see inside that room which was on the right. That's all they were doing. IF THEY WERE REACTING TO LOVELADY, THEY WOULD HAVE GLANCED AT HIM.  They never did, Backes. You don't move around someone without giving him a glance, a head snap. It never happened. They were oblivious to Lovelady, and that's because HE WASN'T THERE.
