Joseph Backes will tell you that it's really stupid to think that that dark rectangular object is a bookcase, and he's right. 

It's an interrogation room, right? Why would they have a bookcase in an interrogation room? I've seen a lot of episodes of Law and Order. Watched a lot of interrogations in the interrogation room. Never saw any bookcases.

And it doesn't even look like a bookcase. It has no books. It has no shelves. It has no features whatsoever of a bookcase. And that's why Joseph Backes says it's really stupid to think that is what it is.
