No, bpete, that is ridiculous. There are millions of people who maintain that the FBI framed Oswald. So, they did make stuff up about him. One of those people is Joseph Backes who thinks that they made up a bus ride and a cab ride for Oswald.
Millions of people believe that the FBI was central to the cover-up in the JFK assassination. And that entailed making false statements about him, including that he went to Mexico City, which he never did. Mark Lane told me in a private communication that Oswald NEVER went to Mexico City. It has become a go-to point for him.
But, the point about Lovelady wearing a short-sleeved, red and white striped shirt was something that they stated categorically based on what Lovelady told them. They said that he stated that he wore those clothes. And he showed up wearing those clothes on 2/29/64. Are we to believe that it was just a coincidence that he happened to show up wearing the very same clothes that they stated that he stated that he wore that day?
And then they proceeded to photograph him in those clothes AND WITH THE SHIRT UNBUTTONED. Why would they do that unless they thought it was the same clothes?
When you combine the FBI letter with the picture it is a powerful combination punch that Lovelady indeed wore those clothes that day.
