I did not contradict myself, Backes. I said that Lovelady eventually started turning towards Oswald so he could look at him. But, he would have started looking at him BEFORE Oswald even reached him- as he was approaching. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE DELAY.
Here's Lovelady staring straight ahead like Whistler's Mother when Oswald had already passed him. He wasn't interested.
Now, here he is a few seconds later, when it finally dawned on him that he might want to keep his eyes on Oswald.
Here they are side by side.
The way they're showing it, his reaction comes too late. Lovelady had to see Oswald approaching. So, he would have been looking at him BEFORE he even reached him. And surely, he would have kept looking at him after that. There is no reason for that Whistler's Mother moment with him staring straight ahead.
It is bull shit. It is contrary to human nature. And it never happened. Lovelady was not there.
