They messed with the aspect ratios repeatedly. It was their magician's wand:
On the top left, you've got Lovelady as he first appeared in Three Shots That Changed America. But, they realized afterwards that the real Lovelady wasn't that muscular. They also realized that the guy was way too stocky to pass for Doorman- or anybody who could be mistaken for Oswald. So, they had to slim him down, and they did, as you see on the top right.
Then on the bottom left, you have Oswald as he really was, and on the bottom right, it's what they turned him into: Marlon Brando Oswald: a tough guy.
