Apparently, Backes wanted to go there, but once he got there, he wanted to get out of there and hasten back to Trembling Hills. 

Hey, I just thought of a good one. You know how for a long time I have referred to the creepy cast of characters in the Altgens doorway as The Addams Family- said with affection, of course. 

Well now, thanks to Joseph Backes, we have our own version of Thing. 

Granted, that arm is Caucasian, not African-American, but who cares?  Why be a stickler for details? It fits right in with Backes' claim of a mysterious African-American consisting of just an arm. If the analogy fits, you must call him a dimwit. 

They're creepy and they're kooky, 
Mysterious and spooky, 
They're all together ooky, 
The Altgens Family. 

Their doorway's a museum 
Where people come to see 'em 
They really are a scream

Neat. 
Sweet. 
Petite. 

So get a witches shawl on
