No, Backes. We need to work backwards, starting with this ridiculous picture, showing Leavelle's hand just disappearing. It doesn't seem to be going anywhere. It just seems gone.

Leavelle said a lot of things, including a whopper of lie that he jerked Oswald behind him trying to shield him from Ruby. He gave a lot of details a lot of times, but he never once said that he had his hand in Oswald's pants. And if you look closely at that picture, you can see that he's got his hand going through the sweater. Think how hard you'd have to dig to press your hand through all that material to get your fingers in that deep. It's rather ridiculous that any police officer would do that. And there was no need. He was handcuffed to Oswald, and it was a short chain. Plus, Graves had Oswald securely by the arm on the other side. And that raises another question: How could Leavelle jerk Oswald back behind himself if Graves was also holding onto to him? If you look at that picture, you can see that Oswald is reacting to being shot, yet Graves has still got his arm. So, how could Leavelle have jerked him? What, did he jerk Oswald and Graves together? He must have been one strong guy.

So then, when we back it up to this picture:

Again, Ruby has got his gun at Oswald and he is about to shoot, while Leavelle and Graves are totally oblivious to him. I'll note that Oswald isn't paying attention to Ruby either. But, there is not enough visible information there to make any definitive statement about Leavelle's hand being dug into Oswald' pants. In fact, if you consider where Leavelle's left shoulder is, behind Oswald, it would be quite a contortion.

Look at it large and notice how fake it looks, Leavelle's left hand and forearm:

Look how fake that looks. Look how broken it is. Look how separated it is. How could Oswald's black sweater insert itself through the material of Leavelle's jacket, dividing it? But, that's what it's doing. That is physically and photographically impossible. Why would anybody vouch for this?

As many times as Leavelle as told the story, how come he's never once said that he stuck his hand in Oswald's pants? In fact, he specifically said that he had Oswald pulled up close to him but nothing about a hand in his pants. What, did he forget?

People: the JFK assassination is the most photographically altered event of all time. Case in point.
