William Kennedy Smith and his mother Jean recently penned an article about Trump which attacked him for making, in their opinion, a callous joke about political assassinations.

Trump said, at a campaign rally, that Hillary wants to essentially abolish the 2nd Amendment, and that if she gets to pick her judges, there is nothing you can do. The crowd booed, presumably at Hillary. Then, he added, but with the Second Amendment people maybe there is.

WKS took that to mean that the Second Amendment people would what? Blow her away? But, the people who talk about the Second Amendment are law-abiding. If you are citing the Second Amendment, you're citing the law of the land, and the need for everyone to respect and obey the law of the land. So, the idea "Second Amendment people" would go out murdering anyone makes no sense to me.

So, what did Trump mean? I presume he meant that, on the grounds of the Second Amendment, that they would refuse to give up their guns. That's a horse of a different color.

Then, WKS went after Putin, calling him a strongman dictator, and saying that he is "surrounded and shielded by force at all times." But, is Putin any more "surrounded and shielded by force" than Obama is?  Absolutely not, and it's laughable to think otherwise.

And really, Smith's whole article is full of so much lofty pomp and gaudy praise for Americanism it's nauseating. Read it yourself:

Wake up, William! Your two uncles and your cousin, who was like a brother to you, were slaughtered by the very system you are now praising and defending. When are you going to face that reality and do something about it?

Yes, political assassination is no joke. Nobody ever said it was. But, denialism is no joke either, and that's what you and the whole Kennedy family have been practicing for 53 years.

Don't you understand? They killed your loved ones. They killed your loved ones. They killed your loved ones.

Your conscience should be telling you to join the truth movement: for JFK, RFK, and JFK Jr. At some point in time, a Kennedy is going to do it. So, why not you?
