Former policeman Gil Jesus has made the observation that for Officer Marrion Baker to see Oswald in the vestibule of the 2nd floor lunch room, it means that Oswald must have taken the front stairs and not the rear stairs. But, the only reason he would have taken the front stairs is because he was at the front of the building at the time.

Let's put aside the idea that Oswald was up on the 6th floor shooting at Kennedy because it's ridiculous. Where then could Oswald have been? We know he was in the 1st floor lunch room eating, also called the Domino room because there were tables in there on which the men played dominoes. And, we know that he wound up in the 2nd floor lunch room at the time Truly and Baker were there, and that was about a minute and fourteen seconds after the last shot. So, if he DIDN'T go outside (though we contend he did) it can only mean that he went DIRECTLY from the Domino room to the 2nd floor lunch room.

And, that's exactly how one of the FBI Agents, either Hosty or Bookhout described it, that Oswald said he ate lunch downstairs and then went up to get a Coke where he encountered Truly and Baker.

But, you only have to look at the layout of the first floor to realize that if Oswald had gone from the Domino room to the 2nd floor lunch room, he definitely would have used the rear stairs. That's because the Domino room was in the rear of the 1st floor, and the other lunch room was in the rear of the 2nd floor. If you're in the rear, going to the rear, you take the rear stairs. Why go to the front stairs only to have to traverse the same distance again on the 2nd floor? Don't people take the shortest course between two points?

So, if Gil Jesus is right about Oswald having used the front stairs, it can only mean that he was close to them at the time he set out. Guess what those front stairs are next to. The doorway. In fact, it works out perfectly, timewise, for Oswald to have been in the doorway and then left BEFORE Baker arrived and then reached the 2nd floor lunch room when he did and still be on the move, as he was when Baker saw him. Check out the layout of the 1st floor, and you'll see that Oswald had to be in front when he began his trek to the 2nd floor lunch room. It's why he took the front stairs.
