As we approach the 52nd anniversary of the JFK assassination, here is where things stand:
The official story is dead. It has zero credibility left. When you actually break it down and consider the implausibility of Oswald building a bag from shipping paper which no one noticed, and taking the bag to Irving without Frazier noticing, and stealing away to the garage between 8 and 9 PM to disassemble the rifle and square it away in the bag without Marina and Ruth noticing that he was gone and not hearing him out there doing it, and Ruth Paine not noticing the rifle in the garage for months even though Marina said it was on the floor in plain view with the stock hanging out, and Michael Paine moving it and re-moving it while thinking it was a folding shovel or tent poles, and Frazier seeing a bag which he said was no more than 24 inches which was over a foot too short to be the disassembled rifle, and then seeing Oswald carry it between his armpit and his outstretched hand, which was impossible due to length, and then getting it inside the TSBD with no one seeing it, hiding it on the 6th floor with no one seeing him or it, and the 6th floor staying occupied during the lunch break by Bonnie Ray Williams until shortly before the assassination, then Oswald supposedly running down the rear stairs from the 6th floor even though Baker saw him entering the vestibule from the office area, which meant that he used the front stairs which only went to the 2nd floor, etc. etc.- you realize that the official story is a joke, a complete utter laughing stock of impossibility.
But, didn't they have a big ceremony in Dealey Plaza two years ago amidst the cadets, the dignitaries, and the music? Didn't and don't all those people believe?
I'll tell you what they believe: they believe in the idea of America. AMERICA. That's what they believe in.
You see, the only alternative to the official story that Oswald did it is that the US government killed Kennedy. There's nothing else. Everyone knows the Russians and the Cubans didn't do it. The Mafia? How could they control the press? How could they change the motorcade route? How could they instate a cover-up? And how could US law enforcement be so stupid and incompetent as to attribute a Mafia hit to a crazed lone gunman?
But, what about all those people who gathered in Dealey Plaza on 11/22/13?
What they believed is that the official story must be true because the only alternative- that the government did it- can't be true since our government doesn't do such things. Never has; never will. The United States is a good country. It is God's country. And the American system of government is the best in the world and the envy of the world. America is the City on a Hill. It is the beacon in the night. It is the lighthouse in the storm. Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. That's what they believe in. And so they just accept the official story of the JFK assassination sweepingly. It's a package deal. They swallow the whole thing in one gulp without examining it or even asking what's in it- out of misguided patriotism. The official story is dead. All that's left is the idea, which is to say the illusion, that what occurred in 1963 was not a murderous coup. But, it was a murderous coup, and people everywhere will come to know it. Reality has a way of forcing itself on people. There are no permanent lies.
