Just came upon this...and--as someone very aware of vocal patterns--it makes some sense to me. LHO ("Harvey," i.e.) was not really from New Orleans. He wasn't born there, and he did not learn to speak there.

When Armstrong and I were working on the two Oswalds (he on his book and me on The Medusa File) we felt that the Russian speaking Oswald was raised in the White Russian area of New York City (Brooklyn?), so that would account for New OR-LEAAANNSS.

Even here in Oklahoma (you know, the area above Baja Oklahoma, AKA Tejas?) we say New Awlins.
