Oswald saw Ruby before he shot him. He made eye contact with him.

Coming out into the garage, Oswald was looking straight but with a rightward bias, meaning, opposite to Ruby's side.

The Fedora hat on the right is Ruby's. Oswald is leaning his head slightly to his right.

Above Oswald, just Oswald is starting to move his head towards Ruby.

And there, Oswald is looking towards and making eye contact with Ruby.

But after that, Oswald goes back to looking straight ahead as Ruby attacks him. But first, I found this frame of the other detective, LC Graves.

Is he smiling? To me, it looks like he is smiling. At the very least, it is a very inappropriate countenance for a time like that. Note that it is very hard to find information on Graves. There are tons of articles and tributes and accolades to Jim Leavelle, and in most of them, if not all of them, they don't even mention Graves. It's as though Leavelle let Oswald get killed all by himself. But no, he had help- from this guy, LC Graves. I can't even find out what his first name was.

But, after that eye contact with Ruby, Oswald went back to looking straight ahead, even as Ruby approached him, gun in hand.

Again: Oswald looking at Ruby:

Then, Oswald looking straight ahead ignoring Ruby.

I can't help but wonder if this whole thing was staged, whether Oswald was acting. One automatically glances at moving objects in one's visual field, even if it's in the periphery. Above, Oswald's head isn't turned towards Ruby, and neither are his eyes. It looks like he is trying hard not to look at him, trying hard to keep a straight gaze. More to come.
